Project Lead Team

Dr Komali Yenneti

Dr Komali Yenneti is a Senior Lecturer and Program Leader at the School of Architecture and Built Environment, University of Wolverhampton. She has a decade of research, policy and advocacy experience in urban studies, climate change, energy and sustainability. Her current research involves more than 25 academic, government and industry partners around the world. She has published widely and has made policy contributions to the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, United Nations Environment Programme and Governments around the world. Her work has frequently appeared in international media, such as BBC, ITV Central, The Hindu, Business Standard, Times of India and The Conversation.  She was a recipient of the Green Talents Award by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the inaugural International Geographical Union’s Early Career Research award. She is currently seconded to the Department for Energy Security & Net-Zero, Government of the UK and is a member of the QSi UK and Ireland Board.

Dr Amina Batagarawa

Amina Batagarawa is currently an Associate Professor of Architecture at Baze University, Abuja, Nigeria. Among other roles, she is the co-founder of the Centre of Clean Energy and Climate Change (CLEANE) in Baze University; the Africa Representative for the World Renewable Energy Network; and the Head of Data Support Services for the Sustainable Energy Practitioners Association of Nigeria. She serves as the Chair of the Gender and Energy sessions in the World Renewable Energy Congress and is also a co-founder of Muslimah Foundation. She has broad teaching and research skills especially in energy use in the built environment. Her goal is to learn, share knowledge and build capacity to solve problems in the  society and sector.

Dr Mohamed Farid Ahmed

Mohamed Farid Ahmed is an Egyptian GIS expert with a PhD in Human Geography. He has worked as a lecturer at the Ain Shams University Faculty of Arts, Geography and GIS Department in Cairo, Egypt. He has published several works and has presented at various international conferences such as International Geographical Union (IGU) Regional Conference and seminars. He has also received scholarships for participating in courses, such as “Topics in Digital and Computational Demography”. Ahmed has also been a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society and the Egyptian Geographical Society.

Project Support Team

Dr Louis Gyoh

Dr Louis Gyoh is a double graduate of the University of Sheffield and also a graduate of the University of Cambridge, Wolfson College. Louis has significant working experience in the UK Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector as a Chartered Architect, Architectural Technologist and Contract Administrator – in the UK Public and Private sectors.  Throughout his career he has sought to integrate Building Design with Energy Efficiency and Affordability. He has worked as a consultant for a number of leading global institutions including the World Bank, United Nations Children and Education Funds, The German Institute Cooperation (GIZ) and USAID. Dr.  Gyoh is an ARB registered architect, a chartered Member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologist (MCIAT) and also a Member of the Chartered institute of Builders (MCIOB). Dr. Gyoh is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Professor Megan Lawton

Megan Lawton is a Professor of Learning and Teaching in Academic Practice in the College of Learning and Teaching. She has a varied background including setting up the Communication Support Unit for D/deaf students, the BA (Hons) Deaf Studies and Interpreting British Sign language/English degree programmes. Key themes of inclusivity, innovation and creativity and technology supported learning emerge throughout her career. She has published on visual research methodology, flipped learning, patchwork assessment, developmental mentoring and transnational education (TNE). She is a National Teaching Fellow and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Prof. Rasha Bondok

Prof. Rasha Bondok is working as a head of the geography department, Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University. She holds a PhD degree in geography from Ain Shams University and has presented her research at various national and international conferences. Bondok is also a member of the Egyptian Geographical Society and has received awards for her contributions to the field of transportation geography. The Ministry of Education commissioned her to review and examine the geography curriculum courses offered by the British Council for the IGCSE International Certificate, and to determine their equivalence to the Egyptian curricula at the secondary level.

Benjamin Moral

Benjamin Moral is a lecturer at Baze University with a deep passion for climate change and sustainability in architecture. His academic and professional interests lie at the intersections of urbanism and architecture, where he explores innovative solutions for sustainable urban development. An accomplished writer and award-winning essayist, Benjamin is known for his brilliant analytical mind and ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity and precision. In addition to his academic pursuits, Benjamin is a passionate business development expert committed to helping young people gain the experiences necessary to build sustainable brands. He has served as a Business Mentor and Judge for the prestigious Tony Elumelu Foundation, where he has guided aspiring entrepreneurs in shaping impactful and enduring business ventures.

Nada Samir

Nada Samir is an Egyptian architect with experience in urban design and planning. She has worked as an assistant lecturer at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Engineering, where she prepared course content and assisted in various modules. She also worked as an assistant lecturer at the Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design (IUSD) master program, where she assisted in the modules Integrated Research Design and Introduction to Sustainable Urban Environment. She has a diverse background in urban planning and design, having worked on various projects. Her PhD thesis is on the relationship between urban-rural linkages and sustainable livelihoods in Egypt.

Mercy Auta Richard

Mercy Auta Richard, is a Lecturer with the Department of Environmental Management and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Geography, a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc.) Environmental Management from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria; and is currently pursuing a PhD in Geography at the Kaduna State University (KASU), Kaduna Nigeria. She has training in Phychosocial support and Emotional Mindfulness stemming from interest in Counselling and Mentoring. Areas of specialization and interest include; Disaster Management, Drought risk management, Climate change, Environmental Impact Assessment, Health and Safety. Affiliated as member to ; Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG),  Nigeria Environmental Society (MNES) and the Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN).

Rukayyatu Bashiru Tukur (PH.D)

Driven by a passion for sharing knowledge along the ethos of giving-back, I took up a job in academia at Ahmadu Bello University, one I have done since 2002 starting at the lowest rung of the ladder as an Assistant Lecturer, and risen to the rank of Professor in 2021. Two decades down-the-line, I’ve completed a doctorate in the Sustainable Architecture specialising in the benefits of Daylighting, at the University of Nottingham, UK. I have published in several academic journals, locally & internationally and collaborated with people both at home and abroad. My primary duties include teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as undertaking research work. Most recently I have moved into another sphere of education within the realms of reforms for the Almajiri scholarship and tackling the menace of out-of-school children in Nigeria. Over the last 22 years, I have mentored several young women and men.
